HWAP

The program is a federally funded, low-income residential energy efficiency program that reduces the energy use of qualified households, thereby creating more affordable housing for those in greatest need.  Households at or below 150% poverty guidelines, listed below, or households participating in Home Energy Assistance Program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or Supplemental Security Income qualify for this no-cost program.
Services may include installation of sidewall, basement, and attic insulation; heating system repairs and replacements;  blower door guided air leakage reduction;  and health and safety testing and inspections.  All measures are based on an on-site energy audit and cost effective guidelines using the N.E.A.T. computerized energy audit.  Individualized client education is also provided.

Weatherization services are free to income eligible homeowners, renters, and landlords.  A contribution is required from landlords who do not meet the income guidelines.

The program statewide has weatherized 250,000 homes.  Household savings have averaged $140.00 per year on single family electric bills, and $188.00 per year on single family gas bills.
