The Trumbull Community Action Program's SUMMER CRISIS PROGRAM has begun accepting appointments for payments up to $100 on electric bills for income eligible elderly people aged 60 and older.

Income eligible households that can provide physician documentation stating electric service is needed for the health of a member of the household also are eligible for assistance with a current electric bill up to $100. It is not necessary to be in disconnect status in order to be eligible for this benefit.

The Trumbull Community Action Program's Summer Crisis Program will be in operation through Aug. 29.

THE HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HEAP) Summer Crisis Program, administered by the Department's Community Development Division, provides assistance to low-income households with an elderly member - 60 or older - or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member's health. These households are eligible for electric bill payment assistance up to $175.

Residents are encouraged to work with their local community action, job and family services, and faith-based organizations for additional assistance.
